BladeOps Channel Support Contest
Hey everyone, although the contest deadline is just about come to an end I thought it was still worth mentioning the channel support contest that BladeOps is currently holding. BladeOps is an American knife dealer that has had a history of doing really great giveaways that have helped build the sense of community in this wonderful hobby that we share.
So just to give you a quick idea of what they're doing, they are giving out 5 prize packs that contain 4 prize items to 5 separate channels in order to sponsor and help them do a giveaway of their own. I think this is a great way to promote paying it forward and really just to help YouTube channels grow and proliferate.
I had the honor of winning one of BladeOps's past contests and it was a great experience, so I definitely thought I'd get my entry in and do what I can to help this contest get the recognition and screen time it deserves.
Even though the contest itself is nearing it's deadline tonight, stay tuned to BladeOps if you haven't been doing so already because they will be dishing out the 5 prize packs this coming weekend, which means that 5 YouTube channels out there will be doing contests of their own and distributing the prizes!
So, keep an eye out for those upcoming contests and definitely check out BladeOps if you haven't already!

USN Gathering at John Grimsmo's!
Hey all,
Custom knife maker John Grimsmo is hosting a USN gathering at his place along with his brother Erik this weekend. It's going to be a great chance to meet all the other local USN folks. I'm sure there will be some really nice customs there to play with and fondle as well!
It's been a great ride so far ever since becoming more and more involved with the knife communities on YouTube and the forums. In my experience those who I've met through the knife community have been truly upstanding, kind, welcoming, and generous individuals. Perhaps it's because this common interest we all have that is somewhat seen as "uncommon" by the majority of the population that really binds us together as a family.
Sure there are a few bad apples here and there, but in my opinion the good vastly outnumber the bad and even the bad ones are sometimes just a little rough around the edges or lacking table manners. But anyways, there really is something about the knife community that truly looks out for one and other. Am I viewing all this through rose-coloured glasses? Perhaps. But in my experience when you look for the good, that is all you will find. My hat's off to all the genuine individuals whom I've met through this fun and interesting hobby that have made the "community" what it really is.
Thank you. :)
Sincerely,
-Tim

Spyderco Resilience - Tactical Kitchen Cutlery
Ok, I know...the word "tactical" is way overused and abused in the knife community, but I thought I would just throw it in the title because it sounded cool. Anyhow, I just wanted to share some quick thoughts about the Spyderco Resilience and the use it's been getting in my experience.
I personally rarely carry a knife that's more than 4 inches in length mainly because it's more blade than I need and it tends to garner unwanted attention when used in public. So, rather than let this great blade sit in the knife drawer, I employed it in the kitchen where it not surprisingly excelled in performance.
The long, full flat ground blade makes for an exceptional slicer and in this case I used it to dismantle a pineapple. The G10 handle scales also provided excellent traction for a firm grip with wet hands. Well, I'll let the pictures do the talking though as this knife made this episode of food prep easy and fun! I'll most definitely be putting this blade to use in the kitchen more often.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read!

Spyderco Techno!
I'm not sure what it is about titanium framelocks, but there's something about them that just speaks to me. Perhaps it's because titanium is associated with high end knives that in a category of their own. I like titanium on knife handles because it's strong, light for it's size, and most of all it feels great in my hand. Titanium is also less aggressive than G10 and doesn't chew up pockets. Well, with that said the Spyderco Techno I ordered has come in and I love it!
Spyderco continues to impress me with their overseas produced knives that boast excellent quality control as well as fit and finish. Mind you this knife wasn't exactly cheap, but I think it goes a bit above what you pay for it. Never have I experienced such solid lockup on a production knife, other than my Chris Reeve Sebenza 21. Well, I've got a few initial impressions of this knife in the vid, but I'll most definitely do a follow up full review on this LBK (Little Big Knife)! Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate you taking the time to visit!
Sincerely,
-Tim
