Chris Reeve Large Sebenza 21: Fake Vs. Real Showdown!

Hey everyone, the fake vs. real Sebenza comparison is up. Take this video as a PSA for those getting into higher end knives such as CRK's so that you know what you're getting is genuine. I think I covered everything I needed to say in the video. These fakes are what they are, so just be aware of them. I'm not going to divulge where to get them as any amount of google searching should allow those who want them to be able to find them.

Also, Gavko just came out with a video about his thoughts on fake knives and I am pretty much in agreement with him. Check it out here:

As always, thanks for your time friends!

  1. Hey Tim,

I have actually been working on a post about counterfeit knives so I find this and Gavkoo's vid to be very timely.

I tend to (respectfully) disagree with a lot of the stuff Mike says (mainly, most of his underlying facts are wrong; eg, counterfeiting has no real harm, when it clearly does - which leads to a faulty argument) although he is certainly entitled to opinion. I will say, he is very well intentioned.

I also am not judgmental of people who do own / buy counterfeits. I must admit I was given a SRM 763 as a gift, and it's a nice knife - definitely aided by the axis lock. I don't want to really get into it here but I look forward to touching on it a little on my own blog.

    1. Hey Dan,

Sounds like you have an interesting view point coming. I guess in regards to the fakes and counterfeit knives, I tend to be more of a realist. I know that those manufacturer's in China won't stop making them anytime soon and even if a few of us in the knife community avoid buying them, there are still plenty of people around the world who don't have any qualms with buying a fake.

I'm sure if I was a knife maker and my designs were being ripped off, I'd definitely feel differently. But as a consumer, I'm almost a little indifferent and I tend to feel this is a "to each their own" situation. But anyways, I look forward to your post Dan! Always great to hear from you bro!

    2. Absolutely man, I can certainly respect a realists position (and I believe it's one I tried to make). And yes, counterfeiting is going nowhere. It's sad, but is just the reality of the situation.

Anyhow, I also wanted to say my opinion is nothing personal even if the article comes off as kind of grating. It's an interesting subject that is bound to polarize a lot of people.
